Two HUGE Interviews Coming Monday!
The Sean Combs trial in the morning; The British Royals in the afternoon...
Hi Everyone,
Standby this week for a treasure trove of important live video chats that you won’t want to miss. And there are TWO on Monday May 19th.
Monday morning at 10 am ET: Join me and the intrepid legal expert, reporter and analyst, Adam Klasfeld, of All Rise News, to break down what is going on in the trial of Sean Combs, currently under way in the Southern District of New York.
Yes, there’s been a lot of upsetting, lurid, graphic testimony from Comb’s ex-girlfriend, the singer Cassie Ventura, who has described a fraught, controlling, physically abusive years-long relationship with Combs who, she says, forced her to participate in his “freak-offs” (marathon sexual sessions with other men and women, often paid sex workers, that he orchestrated, watched and filmed). It’s even been reported that more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant were seized by law enforcement from Combs’s homes.
Combs’s defense team argues that Cassie and Combs were in a consensual relationship. (Her lawyers says she felt coerced on account of his control over her career). And by now most of us have seen the awful video (in the instagram below) of Combs choking, kicking and hitting her in a hotel corridor.
BUT, importantly, Combs’ lawyers do not disagree that he is guilty of criminal domestic abuse.
As Klasfeld has already reported, and will walk us through on Monday morning, that is NOT the legal issue at stake here.
The two issues at stake are:
1. Whether Combs ran what amounted to a criminal racketeering enterprise: in other words, did Combs run a for-profit enterprise, beginning in 2004, in which he controlled a massive pyramid scheme of employees including security, household staff, personal assistants and others, forcing them to engage in criminal acts that include forced labor, bribery, arson, obstruction of justice and kidnapping?
2. And, as part of this scheme did he sex-traffick women and men across state lines?
You can read the indictment here.
Adam reached out to me to chat about it because of the obvious parallels with the allegations again Jeffrey Epstein, in terms of the scale of the scheme and length of time implied in the allegations against Combs.
So, stand by for what will be an enlightening discussion with a true expert in the New York courts.
Then: MONDAY AT 5pm
Join me for a talk, the same day, Monday at 5pm about the British Royal family the wonderful writer confidante of the late Queen Elizabeth, Hugo Vickers.
No one knows more about the Royal family than Hugo.
The Financial Times recently described him as: ‘the most knowledgeable royal biographer on the planet.’
And he is not going to pull any punches when we chat in the afternoon at 5pm ET.
He has been openly critical of Harry and Megan, questioning their use of the HRH titles saying that Harry’s behavior during the Queen’s last days was “unforgivable.”
He will discuss the thorny question of whether Harry should attend a future Coronation, when the time comes.
He will analyze the reign of King Charles and that of his Queen, Camilla, thus far.
And, of course he will talk about the Prince and Princess of Wales. One point of discussion in England is William’s seeming reluctance to immerse himself in the Church of England. He does what is necessary, not more. Is that a problem or not?
We will get into Prince Andrew and the latest news around the late Virginia Giuffre. Hugo and I agree that Andrew and Fergie’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie are an unsung asset to their parents and the wider family.
And we will also discuss Princess Anne, an alumna of my old British boarding school, Benenden (in fact we shared the same housemistress) and Prince Edward.
So, stay tuned. Tomorrow is a busy day! And it’s only Monday! Join me on the substack app for these conversations LIVE!
