Thanks, Vicky, for your video and analysis on the war between Russia and Ukraine. I hold a perspective on this which is not popular to those who believe we should continue to fund Ukraine indefinitely to "win the war" against Russia.
I think NATO is responsible for this war and the prior war in 2014. NATO lied to Russia back in 1990, when they said they wouldn’t add NATO members east of Germany. Since that promise was made, there are 14 NATO countries east of Germany, including six that border Russia. Combine with that the anti-Putin rhetoric from several leaders in the EU (Macron, Starmer as examples) and United States and media (referring to Putin as a war criminal, dictator, thug, etc.).
Add to that Ukraine is getting armed with tons of military equipment by NATO, with periodic discussions of adding Ukraine to NATO, depending on who the US president is. When you add all those factors together, I see Russia’s point. They view these actions in combination as a threat to their security/sovereignty, and they have a right to defend themselves.
I would ask those politicians in the United States who believe we should continue to fund this war via proxy indefinitely to consider this scenario: what if Mexico, Canada, Cuba, and other countries near the United States were members of an anti-American alliance and receiving tons of military equipment from that anti-American alliance; it is reasonable to think that anyone In the United States would view such actions as provocative and a threat to America's security/sovereignty. Why should Russia feel any differently?
I've written a couple of columns about this, I’ve provided the link for the first one below for anyone interested in reading it, which offers context to why we are where we're at, and a solution to end the war (which will be good Russia, Ukraine, NATO, and the world). Apologies ahead of time for lack of spacing in the column, and thanks for your attention.
I know. We fixed around the 15 minute mark. Thank you to the people who wrote in...takeaway: don't use headphones..
