Here's Epstein's Written Screed To Me Regarding Maria And Annie Farmer
Sadly, It Worked.
I was trawling through the Epstein Files last night and I stumbled on the fax Jeffrey Epstein sent to me back in December 2002, regarding questions put to him during our fact-checking process at Vanity Fair about allegations of abuse by Maria and Annie Farmer. (Earlier this week, I showed you the missive he sent to Graydon Carter, my boss at the time, also trashing me. And, as we know, it was effective. Without consulting me, despite everything I’d gone through with Epstein, all the harassment and threats to me and my unborn children, the Farmers were cut from the article, and were left exposed to the predators they’d tried to expose. It was ghastly. I note that in his uber-boring memoir, Carter makes no mention of the fact that Epstein came to visit him in his office at this time.
But, at least the latest tranche of Epstein Files has vindicated my version of events. In subsequent years, Epstein regularly refers to Graydon in emails as someone he believes to be on-side.
Here’s Epstein’s garbage invective - sent to me during our fact-checking process. The redacted names are those of Maria and Annie Farmer.
Re-reading this, all these years later, I am struck by Epstein’s emphasis on money. His money. Epstein clearly thought (rightly, sadly) if he harped on and on about money, whether it was the money he spent on Maria Farmer, or claimed he’d lost to Maria Farmer, or the money he’d spent on sending Annie Farmer to Thailand - well, then, that money was the proof that he only had good intentions - and that these two sister were not to be believed.
And I was just a miserable, ignorant journalist, with poor grammar (hilarious, coming from him!) who “can do better.”
I wish John Connolly, a friend and former colleague of mine at Vanity Fair, was alive to see how he, also has been vindicated in these files. Sadly, John passed away in 2022. Connolly was an ex-NYPD cop and, a few years after my piece was published, he had a trove of information from police sources in Palm Beach about Epstein’s predations. He tried to do a follow-up piece at Vanity Fair on Epstein, but Carter killed it before it even got off the ground. Eventually, many years later, Connolly was able to get his reporting into Filthy Rich the book he co-authored with James Patterson (yes, my James Patterson!) and Tim Malloy that was published in 2017.
Nearly twenty years ago, Connolly was the only colleague of mine at Vanity Fair who really understood what we were up against. No one else seemed to care.
Here’s an email he sent me in 2006 when he was trying to revive Carter’s interest in Epstein. In vain.
If you have any questions about any of the above above, I am happy to set up a live video session to answer them. Let me know if that would be helpful. I’d be happy to do it Monday afternoon, following Ghislaine Maxwell’s testimony to Congress. (I am anticipating she will plead the Fifth. I’ll be covering it live on Ms Now.

Fascinating find…must feel so reaffirming. I listened to your discussion with Julie Brown. These rich white male pigs fooled many, didn’t they?
I’m so glad you were able to be validated through these documents! Also, the Farmer sisters were also finally validated that they did the right thing in 1996!
