He is shameless and I'm disappointed to see you fall into his trap Ms. Ward. Many people in literary circles are smart enough to know what Patterson does in lending his name and based on discussions I've seen online find it contemptible, as do I.
Patterson "collaborated" with a young British woman to produce a trash book on Marilyn Monroe in recent months (as if we need another). It is a compilation of the most outrageous lies and distortions with absolutely no attempt to portray the real Marilyn. Many of the sources used have long been discredited as charlatans who were out to exploit Monroe for personal gain AND NEVER KNEW HER. Even a modicum of research would have established this fact. Instead, Patterson and his colleague reprinted these falsehoods with obviously no regard for truth or the further damage they did to Monroe's reputation.
No one could write hundreds of books as Patterson claims to have done, yet people eagerly collaborate with him -- even Bill Clinton -- to exploit his name ID. It's one of the most craven and exploitative practices in the literary world and comes down to just ego and greed.
