Hey Everyone,
I have some exciting news! This coming week, on Wednesday April 9th at 5pm EST, I will kick off the first of a new weekly live video TV “show” that will be available to all my subscribers while it’s live. (Most of the recorded version will be available but behind a paywall.)
Each week on Wednesday afternoon, the TV version of Vicky Ward Investigates will last around thirty minutes and you’ll get my take on the news of the week — high, low, political, cultural, serious, trivial — and I’ll be chatting with some of the A-list sources and friends I’ve accumulated in the 35 years I’ve worked as a journalist both here and in the UK. So, Buckle Up! No topic is off limits! As many of you know, I am interested in anything and everything: In this newsletter I’ve written about domestic politics and foreign affairs, but also about Broadway, the movie Challengers, the vagaries of my reporting life; Elizabeth Holmes, Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein; Alex Murdaugh; Armie Hammer and much, much more.
And, over the years some of the topics I’ve written about include: Lehman Brothers; Morgan Stanley, Lazard Brothers; Fairfield Greenwich; Bernie Maddoff; General Motors; The Getty Museum, Francois Pinault; Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, Mark Birley, Mark Thatcher, St Barths, Hewlett Packard, Erik Prince, Robert and Rebekah Mercer; Nick Ayers; Henry Luce; Brooke Astor; Steve Bing; Jared Kushner; South Africa; West Africa; the Princess of Wales;….
Also, I like to mix it up politically, in a reflection of the reporting life I lead, in which I talk to people of all stripes. So, my show will have guests from the left, right and center. From the US and abroad. From the Establishment - and not. And, given my “proper” British upbringing, this is a show which will be fun, and enlightening, but also civil and courteous. In my experience you are much more likely to learn something interesting if you listen rather than talk over someone.
My paid subscribers will be able to send in questions for either me or my guest ahead of time and, also, during the chat - using the chat function on the Substack app which you need to download on your phone.
If I need to vary the time because of a guest’s availability or something unexpected in my schedule, I will let you know as far in advance as possible. I will do my best, however, to stick to the 5p.m. EST time slot on Wednesdays.
So: this coming Wednesday at 5pm EST, my first guest will be the man who is arguably America’s most controversial best-selling author: Michael Wolff. We will get into the nitty gritty around his latest book: All or Nothing.
And then, mark your calendars for the following Wednesday, April 17, where I’ll be in conversation with another controversial figure: possibly America’s most infamous lawyer: Alan Dershowitz. You can bet that I’ll be asking him for his take on the president’s executive orders targeting certain law firms.
I’m excited. I hope you are, too.
I’ll still be posting other newsletters when I can and doing other live interviews in response to the news. I’ve got one almost ready to go about the whiplash I experienced last week from immersion in two very different crowds: one in New York and the other Washington, DC.
See you Live on Wednesday, I hope!
